Website Marketing 101 – Tips and tricks to get your website high up in the rankings
There are many a few main ways to bring your search engine to the top of its rankings. This can be a tedious yet important step to making your internet presence successful. In this article I will tell you some of the major ways to help bring your website higher up in the rankings. The search engine rules change on a rapid rate, so what might be good today, might not be as good tomorrow. In the following paragraphs we will explain some of the major tactics for this internet success.
Search engine optimization or (SEO). This is really what is considered to be step number one to getting your site indexed within the search engines. Although this is not is as important as this used to be, it is still a “must do”. Your site can move higher and higher up the search engine ladder with careful use of keywords in webpage titles, meta tags, headings, body text, as well as links within your webpages, as well as many incoming links to the site from directories, social bookmarks, complementary sites, etc.. See the Internet Marketing and Advertising Company for tips and tricks located at http://www.tampainternetadvertising.com .
Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC) or paid search on Google, Yahoo, or MSN. Your text ads show up to the right of search results when searchers search on keywords. You pay only when someone clicks on your ad. Can be quite effective with careful keyword choice and tested landing pages. Moderate to high cost, depending on the keywords. This can be a quick a quick fix to get your website to the top of the rankings, but this can also be an expensive quick fix if not strategically implemented.
Banner advertising. Banner ads, when used carefully, can be valuable marketing devices that can lead a significant amount of traffic to your website. Your banner ads show up on ad networks. However, the click-through rate is probably less than 0.3%. Low effectiveness except where highly targeted. Moderate cost. Yahoo has a pretty good banner ad program.
Affiliate programs. You pay affiliates for showing your ads only when a customer clicks-through and makes a purchase from you. Can be effective, but good affiliates are difficult to find and motivate to create adequate volume. If you do find a good affiliate program, chances are you will be spending a lot of money for it and if you are going to do that, Google adwords might be the best choice.
Advertising in e-mail newsletters. Your ad is displayed in an existing email marketing program or e-zine geared towards people in your specific group. Can be moderately effective. Low to medium cost. Solo e-mails using an existing list. Your e-mail promotional articles are sent to subscribers of a targeted mail list or rented list. This can be quite effective with well-written copy, a tested landing page, and the right list. Relatively expensive, depending upon the list and your keywords or your industry you are marketing within.
Networking in online communities. Social networking and blogging communities are becoming very important for your search engine marketing. Search engines such as Google are holding these sites higher and higher in value. You become an active part of several online communities, forums, blogs, etc., participate in discussions, and promote your site passively through your “signature.” This can be very effective. You can become an “expert” in the industry you are in through writing articles within these social marketing sites. This is low cost and targeted, but can be time intensive.
Viral marketing campaigns. You promote your site by creating a “creative” (flash movie, video, text message, photo, animation, etc.) that will be funny or so creative that people will pass this email or article along to their friends and family. You see this often in YouTube with video content. This tactic can be extremely successful for the creative few who stumble upon a compelling or creative message. Normally very low cost but must be extremely creative with this one.
Joint venture arrangements. Essentially this involves getting others sites and bulletin boards to give you a write up on your services or products along with your marketing message and links to your page in exchange for either a sales commission or for a reciprocation on your part. This tactic can be effective with the right partners. This tactic is normally low cost with little effort, but to be effective you must choose the right partners
There are many avenues you can choose that can be an effective way to market your website. I would recommend doing a few of these tactics. Doing just one of these normally will not be a huge success. At the very minimal, the first step needed is to make sure your website is search engine optimized so it can be effectively indexed within the search engines.
